Dissemination of information on decisions
The Prime Minister’s Office is responsible for issuing regular reports on presentations to the President of the Republic, sessions of the Government and cabinet committees. The ministries also report on decisions in their own administrative sectors.
Brief summaries are prepared of public decisions made at sessions of the Government. Immediately after the session, these are posted on the decisions page on the Government website and also supplied to the news media via the Finnish News Agency network.
The presentation lists for public items decided at Government sessions, plus any related press releases on Government decisions and statements are distributed to the press immediately after the decision has been taken. Approved ministry decisions are published after meetings of the Cabinet Finance Committee, as are decisions adopted at plenary sessions of the Government, including proposals by the Government for decision by the President of the Republic. After presidential sessions, decisions taken by the President in the absence of a proposal by the Government are distributed.
Session agendas of Government plenary sessions and presidential sessions are also published in advance on the Government website. The agenda for the Thursday plenary session of the Government is published on Wednesdays at 4 p.m., and the agenda for the Friday presidential session on Thursdays at 4 p.m.
Valtioneuvoston Viikko
The summaries of decisions are brought together in the publication "Valtioneuvoston Viikko" (The Week in Government). This is published on the Government website in Finnish each Monday, when it is also issued as a supplement to the Official Gazette published by Edita Publishing Ltd.
