Organisation
The Prime Minister’s Office is headed by the Prime Minister. The State Secretary, whose appointment is linked to the Prime Minister’s term of office, directs and supervises the functions of the Prime Minister’s Office. He is assisted by the Permanent State Under-Secretary.
The Prime Minister’s Office comprises the Department for Administration and Specialist Services, Preparedness Department and Ownership Steering Department. It also has four units offering policy services: the Government Secretariat for EU Affairs, Government Communications Unit, Government Session Unit and Policy-analysis Unit. Provisions governing the functions of the units under the departments are laid down in the rules of procedure of the Prime Minister’s Office.
