Government foresight report on climate and energy policy

The foresight report outlines long-term climate and energy policy
Towards a thriving low-carbon Finland
The Government adopted in October 2009 the Foresight Report on Long-term Climate and Energy Policy. Setting a target to reduce Finland’s greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 per cent from the 1990 level by 2050 as part of an international effort, the report marks out the road to a low-carbon Finland in 2050.

Summary of Future Forums 2009-2010
The Prime Minister’s Office, together with the Parliamentary Committee for the Future, regional councils and other partners, organised a series of regional Future Forums in late 2009 and early 2010. The seven events organised brought together a total of about 1,100 people. Key data on the Forums is available in Appendix 1.
The aim of the Forums was to stimulate discussion on the target set in the Government Foresight Report on Long-term Climate and Energy Policy: to make Finland a low-carbon society by 2050. At the same time, the purpose of the Forums was to create a joint state of determination in national climate change efforts and attract a wide range of participants representing all levels and the entire Finland.
